Longs Peak

Longs Peak - 14259 ft tall. It is the only 14,000 ft mountain located within the Rocky Mountain National Park. The mountains in Colorado above 14,000 ft are called as the "Colorado Fourteeners". There are more than 50 peaks in Colorado which are above 14,000 ft in altitude. For more details see : http://www.14ers.com/photos/photos_14ers1.html

Sprague Lake Scenery

Sprague Lake - with a tree fallen in the lake.

Nymph Lake

Nymph Lake - A mountain lake which is about 1/2 mile from the Bear Lake...

Dream Lake

Dream Lake - Another frozen mountain lake. This lake is a 1.1 mile trek from Bear Lake and is at an elevation of 9900ft.

Sprague Lake History

Sprague Lake from another angle. This shallow, 13-acre lake is a remnant of a resort once owned here by Abner Sprague, an expert guide and host. Just before Rocky Mountain National Park was established in 1915, Sprague enlarged this lake by damming the far end to create better fishing for his lodge guests. Sprague and his wife, Alberta, operated their lodge -- formerly located near today's parking lot -- from 1910-40. The Spragues introduced their guests to the pleasures of high mountain waters, meadows and trails.

The Sprague Lake

Sprague Lake - Yet another beautiful lake in the Rocky Mountains...Sprague Lake is at an elevation of 8200 ft. The mountains in the background are known as the Three Buttes, derived from the Arapaho naming of the peaks to "three-mountain-they-are". The 2 peaks on the left are unnamed (10,134 ft. and 10,567 ft.), and the peak on the right is Estes Cone (11,006 ft.).

Bear Lake Revisited

Bear Lake - In all its glory...This in my opinion is the best picture I have taken with my camera till date!

More Mountain Scenery

I had never imagined in my life that I would get so close to snow-capped mountains. Till I saw the Rocky Mountains I had seen such scenery only on Television and in movies. In fact the Rocky Mountains has served as the shooting location for Stallone's Super Hit film - The Cliffhanger!

A View from the Top

A view from the top - this is a picture taken at 10,000 ft plus of altitude. The road further to this point called as the Trail Ridge Road is closed in winter due to excessive snowfall. I did get the chance on my second trip to Boulder to go on the Trail Ridge Road as well!

Bear Lake in Spring

Another picture of the very same Bear lake - taken in spring!

Bear Lake in Winter!

Bear Lake - Bear Lake is a mountain lake which is completely frozen in Winter and its situated at an altitude of about 9000 ft

Moraine Park - A Different View

Another picture of the area surrounding Moraine Park...I just felt I could turn 360 degrees and everywhere I looked the scenery looked as good as ever!

Moraine Park Scenery

Breathtaking Scenery @ the Moraine Park within the Rocky Mountain National Park.

A distant view of the snowcapped mountains!

A glorious view of snowcapped mountains can be seen as we enter into the Rocky Mountain National Park in the city of Estes Park

Boulder - The Mile High City

I was in Boulder, Colorado in December 2002. One of the coldest places I have ever visited with sub zero temperatues being common in the Winter. Boulder is a beautiful mountain city and situated about an hour's drive from the capital city of Denver
